Vice Admiral Manuel Santiago Vascones Morey

Vice Admiral Manuel Santiago Vascones Morey was born on November 30th, 1961 in Bellavista, Callao and studied at the Liceo Naval Almirante Guise. Once he completed his studies, he joined the Navy in 1978 and graduated as Midshipman in 1983. He is Qualified in Surface Warfare and Navy Engineering. He has followed the Basic Course of Staff and the Course of Command and Staff in the Escuela Superior de Guerra Naval (Navy School in Peru) and holds a Master’s Degree in Development and National Defence. While he was in service aboard, he served in the B.A.P. Aguirre, B.A.P. Pariñas, B.A.P. Sánchez Carrión, B.A.P. Ilo, B.A.P. Santillana and B.A.P. Carvajal; he was Second Commander of the B.A.P Montero, Commander of the B.A.P Supe and Commander of the B.A.P Villavisencio.

He has been General Superintendent of Production and Chief of the Shipyard Division of Industrial Service of Chimbote, Chief of the Material Department of the Peruvian Naval School, Officer of the Inspections Department of the Navy General Inspectorate, Chief of the Logistics Department of the Fourth Navy Zone Command and FT-100 (Fuerza de Tarea, Task Force), Officer of the 4th Section of Staff of Pacific Operations Command, Chief of the Fleet Department of the Merchant Marine Office, Chief of the Acquisition Division of the Provision Direction, Chief of the International Affairs Division of the Politics, Strategy and Supervision Department of the Navy General Staff, and Chief of the Politics, Strategy and Supervision Department of the Navy General Staff.

On January 1st, 2009 the Government bestowed upon him the promotion to the grade of Rear Admiral and was assigned as Commander of the Third Navy Zone. On January 1st, 2010 he assumed the position of General Deputy Inspector of the Navy. On January 1st, 2011 he assumed the position of Director of the Navy Welfare. On January 1st, 2012 he assumed the position of Commander of the Surface Force.

On January 2nd, 2014 he assumed the position of Chief of Staff of General Command of Pacific Operations.

On January 1st, the Government bestowed upon him the promotion to the grade of Vice Admiral.

On January 2nd, 2015 he assumed the position of General Director of Navy Personnel.

In 2015 he satisfactorily completed the High Direction Program (AD) 2015 at the School of Direction of the Universidad de Piura.

On January 1st, 2017 he assumed the General Direction of Captaincies and Coastguard.  

He is married to María Susana Del Risco Arrieta and they have two children: Santiago and Lucía.
